From our first phone call, I could tell that Paige and Luke were special souls. Since I hadn’t officially met Paige + Luke until their wedding day, we got to know each other well over the phone for the year plus leading up to their wedding. Since Paige and Luke currently live on the east coast and most of their family are here on the west coast, they wanted to make it a priority that the entire day was a celebration from the start. Photographing these two was one for the books – from their beaming smiles, happy tears, and joyous laughter – their love was palpable. It also helps that their family and friends were so kind, attentive, and full of love for this couple.
One of my favorite moments (although there are several) of Paige & Luke’s wedding day was their private vow reading, which was nestled amongst the rows of trees with the perfect amount of mid-day lighting – it was SO SO romantic! The Walnut Grove is a magical venue with what feels like countless eucalyptus + walnut trees. The rows of trees create a natural canopy which allows the sun to filter through branches. The backdrop made it especially intimate for their personal vows and allowed me to capture it in a way that will tell their love story for generations.
HOW THEY MET & THE PROPOSAL
During the pandemic, there was really only one way of meeting people to date: Hinge! Our relationship expanded quick and organically. We both fell for each other quickly and grew into a loving couple. It was a little over a year of dating before the proposal. The proposal was a total surprise! Her family was already in town visiting for her nursing school graduation, and he planned a “surprise” celebration for her graduation celebration at a beautiful resort in the countryside. However, that celebration was an engagement! In a private library, with everyone outside waiting, he pulled her in and barely could say a word of what he prepared. After she said, “yes,” and 15 minutes of photos, both families join; but with one more surprise left. Moments later, her best friends, from across the country, walk in, to her complete shock. With an even bigger surprise than the engagement, she falls to the ground with MORE tears in her eyes. After group photos, and a wonderful brunch to follow, came a week of celebration!
